The Master is delivered by the University of Milan in partnership with IRCCS “Carlo Besta” Neurological Institute. The Master will provide 60 credits.

The master will provide the attendees with a complete update on Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) Disorders. The way is structured will allow widening knowledge of PNS physiology and disease-related dysfunctions, and acquiring theoretical and practical skills on structure, development and function of peripheral neurons and nerves, clinical neurophysiology and autonomic nervous system, neuroimaging, neuropathology, diagnosis and treatment of acquired and inherited neuropathies, pain, motor neuron diseases and neuromuscular junction diseases.
The master is structured in five modules, each including specific topics, as detailed in the attached program. Each module will be developed over 2 weeks. Classes will be given in English and based on the integration of theoretical and interactive sessions, with the aim to reinforce key concepts and facilitate their learning.
Participants will experience two exclusive full teaching courses: a cadaver lab at the University of Turin, during which it will be possible to assist and participate in dissection; and a grant writing course, led by a twenty-year experienced company working in the field.
The last module will be devoted to the practical sessions, planned at the research hospital IRCCS “Carlo Besta” Neurological Institute, and focused on clinical neurophysiology and autonomic nervous system assessment, intra-operatory monitoring, peripheral nerve ultrasonography, and clinical practice at the acquired and inherited neuropathy outpatient clinics neuropathology. In the afternoons, clinical grand rounds led by expert neurologists will be performed on of PNS disorders.
All classes will be in English.
Students are required to attend the classes in person for at least 80% of the program to acquire the credits (1 module can be ran from remote), have access to the final exam, and attain the degree.

Who is the master for
Candidates must be graduated in medicine or biology. PhD students and residents in neurology are particularly encouraged to apply. The Master is aimed to whom wish deepening knowledge, expertise and research skills in Peripheral Nervous System disorders and develop a career within the expanding field of translational neuroscience either in the academy or in the industry.
The master is aimed at graduates in a biomedical or healthcare related subject who wish to develop their knowledge, expertise and research skills in Peripheral Nervous System Disorders. The master will benefit medical graduates and biologists or those with equivalent qualification, who wish to develop a sub-specialty experience in this branch of neuroscience. Additionally, this educational program is aimed at those wishing to develop a career within the expanding field of translational neuroscience either in the academy or in the industry.
Scientific Program
The master is composed of five macro modules. Each macro module includes specific topics. The theoretical lessons will be integrated with interactive sessions during which the students will test and improve their knowledge. Practical sessions are planned for the topics Clinical Neurophysiology and Autonomic Nervous System.
